He is a writer, musician, artist, son, brother, uncle and an all around good guy. Above all things, Brandon Miller is a mover and shaker. He is proud to accept challenges so he can continue to feel the exhilaration of victory.
A native of The Nation’s Capital, Brandon was born on September 15, 1982. Coming from a family richly filled with love and support, Brandon often reflects back to his childhood experiences and credits his upbringing for the person he is today. But, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. “I have dealt with my share of adversities in life; but, you know what they say, “Trouble don’t last always””.
Brandon has had more than his fair share of battles in his 29 years, but he refuses to give in to defeat. From the ever-changing courses in life, including the loss of loved ones, Brandon believes that “Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.”
Most recently, Brandon discovered that his health was failing. Weighing in at over 400 pounds, Brandon was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. He suffered severe liver and kidney damage as a result of the diagnosis. But, determined to overcome yet another obstacle, Brandon decided to take control of his life by shedding the pounds. On September 3, 2008, he underwent a laparoscopic gastric bypass to jump start his firmer grip on life. Today, Brandon has shed over 200 pounds of both physical and emotional weight, continues moving forward, and refuses to look back.
Now on the fast track to reclaiming his life, Brandon is more determined than ever to enjoy every moment that God gives him. For he now understands more than ever that tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. The sky is no longer the limit for how high he can soar and is determined to achieve every goal he sets forth.
When asked what his primary goal in life is, Brandon has stated “The ultimate goal for me to accomplish is to simply make my parents proud. For me it’s not about specific titles and material things. It’s about maintaining the morals and values that were instilled in me. Coupled with my character and unwavering faith, that keeps my head up, shoulders back and feet moving forward. I believe that living my life by not letting anyone or anything compromise those four essentials makes my parents proud.”
Now, Brandon invites you to take a peak into his life with The B. Miller Experience. Follow him as he chronicles the ups and downs of daily life with his own humorous, yet positive spin on the randomocity of life. But don’t think it’s the end of Brandon’s story… it’s only the beginning.
